ETHICS

 

  1. Accurately inform clients as to the details of their service and only promote products that will extend the benefits of the treatment they are receiving, as well as improve upon their environments, in which they are living and working.
  2. Allow health care associates, clients and the public to be aware of the scope of practice and any limitations or contraindications that are related to Therapeutic Massage, Energetic Bodywork and Applied Metaphysics.

  3. Keep the greatest standards of professional conduct and represent qualifications honestly, such as education, experience and professional affiliations.

  4. Provide treatment only where there is a reasonable expectation that it will be advantageous to the client and never attempt to exploit, control or manipulate anyone in that process. 

  5. Consistently improve professional knowledge and competence through continued education and training, as well as regular assessment of strengths and weaknesses. 

  6. Conduct business activities with moral correctness, integrity and respect not only for the inherent worth of each client, but also for the profession itself.

  7. Refuse to unjustly discriminate or behave negatively toward other businesses, practitioners and different healing strategies, but rather - to concentrate on brilliantly applying my skills, making each session a meaningful and healing experience.

  8. Safeguard the confidentiality of the client’s identity in private sessions, advertisements and personal related circumstances, unless disclosure of identifiable details is requested by the client in writing, is medically necessary or required by law.

  9. Honor the client’s right to treatment by obtaining and recording their informed consent or their assigned advocates, before providing treatment.  This consent may be written or verbal and include the disclosure and acknowledgment of fees.

  10. Respect the client’s right to refuse, modify or terminate treatment regardless of any prior consent given and be cognoscente of working for the ultimate good and empowerment of all concerned.

  11. Supply proper draping and preparation for each client's treatment, in such a hospitable manner that it further ensures their complete safety, customized comfort and total privacy.  

  12. Preserve clear, honest and factual client records for a minimum of seven years or in accordance with the administrative protocols of any employer.

  13. Refrain under all circumstances, from participating in a sexual relationship or engaging in sexual conduct with a client, whether consensual or otherwise.  

  14. Avoid any interest, activity and influence which might be in conflict with the best interests of the client and be vigilant about the prevention of over-familiarity and sexual harassment.

  15. Respect the client’s boundaries and autonomy with regard to their privacy in all circumstantial disclosures, emotional utterances, belief systems and reasonable expectations of professional behavior. 

  16. Refuse any gifts or benefits that are intended to influence a referral, decision or treatment and are purely given for personal gain.

  17. Cultivate and manage a professional, hygienic and orderly appearance in regard to personal appearance, treatment rooms and workstations.  

  18. Maintain professional liability insurance and respectfully exercise the right to deny service or refer a client if it becomes necessary.

  19. Uphold the policies, procedures, guidelines, regulations and requirements including, but not limited to the Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals, California Massage Therapy Council, National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, as well as the codes of conduct that are mandated by employers that I am associated with. 

  20. Follow all relevant municipal, state and federal laws regarding Massage Therapy, Energetic Bodywork and Applied Metaphysical Science.

  21. Implement treatments exclusively through Soundness of Body, Presence of Mind and Unwavering Positivity.
